How does a transponder immobilizer work along with car key?
The key has a RF (radio frequency) chip embedded in it. The transponder module in the car sends a signal out as soon as the ignition is turned on to read the RF chip resistance code. If this code is a match the car will start.
The chip in the key does not send or recieve any signals, it is just there to be read by the module.
Check out transponder keys in Wikipedia. Also “rolling code” security technology is a very interesting and virtually unbreachable feature in newer vehicles.
